The merchant can choose to generate a QR code on the mobile Point of Sale screen or Kibeti Tap & Go app in their phone for Scan, PIN to Pay, alternatively the customer can tap the mobile Point of Sale terminal, input their PIN and pay or insert the customer’s card into the mobile Point of Sale terminal for chip and PIN to pay.

The customer receives a prompt message on his phone to input his Mpesa or Airtel Money PIN number, after a successful transaction the customer can opt to sign the merchant’s smartphone or mobile Point of Sale terminal screen to complete the transaction. Receipts are sent via SMS/Email to the customer.

For customers paying via Visa or MasterCard, Scan your PayPass or payWave against merchant QR code, input your PIN in your mobile phone to pay. Alternatively input your chip and PIN in the mobile Point of Sale terminal to pay.

For customers using Visa/ MasterCard without payWave/ PayPass; input customer card details and PIN in merchant’s Kibeti Tap & Go app. After a successful transaction the customer can opt to sign the merchant’s smartphone or mobile Point of Sale terminal screen to complete the transaction. Receipts are sent via SMS/Email to the customer.

* After a successful transaction, automatic settlement is initiated and the transaction amount is transferred to the merchant’s bank account – in just 2 business days for Visa, MasterCard payments, and near real time for Mpesa/ Airtel Money payments. During the entire transaction, the customer’s debit/ credit card and mobile money information is not saved/ stored on the mobile device or card reader.
